Global Geotourism Conference

Geotourism describes the resources, activities and management of visitor activity centered on rock exposures, landforms and fossils in a wide variety of natural landscapes.

Ideology holds the rights to convene the Global Geotourism Conference which was initiated in 2006. Two years later Ross convened the Inaugural Global Geotourism Conference in Perth, Western Australia from 17-20 August 2008. The Second Global Geotourism Conference was held in Mulu, Sarawak, Borneo, Malaysia, from 17-20 April 2010. The Third Global Geotourism Conference was held in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman from 30 October – 1 November 2011. The Fourth Global Geotourism Conference was to have been held in Iceland in August 2013 but has been postponed for reasons beyond the control of Ideology. A further announcement will be made in due course

Each Conference sets a benchmark for the tourism industry in relation to the development, management and marketing of landscapes. It highlights geotourism as a conservation tool, educational process, development opportunity and sustainable tourism activity. It also includes case studies showcasing geotourism in a number of countries and regions from around the world.

Highlights of each conference include national and international speakers; workshop discussions, field trips and a strong social program. For any information about the Global Geotourism Conference contact Ideology directly.
